Privacy Policy

August Industries ("we," "us," or "our") operates the SnapScore Golf mobile application (the "App"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our App.

1. Information We Collect

Account Information. When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, and authentication credentials. If you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive the profile information you authorize those services to share.

Scoring Data. The App stores golf scores, contest configurations, game selections, player names, handicaps, and settlement calculations. This data is stored locally on your device using encrypted storage.

Scorecard Images. When you use the OCR scanning feature, the App processes photos of physical scorecards. Images are processed on-device using ML Kit. If on-device processing is insufficient, images may be sent to our cloud-based vision API (Anthropic Claude Vision) for enhanced recognition. Images are processed in real time and are not stored on our servers after processing is complete.

Course Data. The App accesses a third-party golf course database to load course information (par, handicap, yardage). Your course search queries are sent to this service.

Purchase Information. If you subscribe to SnapScore Pro, your purchase is processed by Apple through the App Store. We do not collect or store your payment information. We receive a confirmation of your subscription status from RevenuCat, our subscription management provider.

Device and Usage Data. We collect crash reports and performance data through Sentry, our error-tracking service. This includes device model, OS version, app version, and crash stack traces. This data does not include your scores or personal information.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide, maintain, and improve the App
  • Process scorecard images and calculate game settlements
  • Manage your account and subscription status
  • Diagnose technical issues and fix bugs
  • Communicate with you about your account or the App

3. Data Storage and Security

Your scoring data, contest history, and preferences are stored locally on your device. We do not operate a central database of user scores. If you delete the App or your account, this data is permanently removed from your device.

We use industry-standard security measures to protect information transmitted to our services (TLS encryption in transit). However, no method of electronic storage or transmission is 100% secure.

4. Third-Party Services

The App uses the following third-party services, each with their own privacy policies:

  • Apple Sign-In / Google Sign-In — Authentication
  • RevenueCat — Subscription management
  • Sentry — Error tracking and crash reporting
  • Anthropic (Claude Vision API) — Scorecard image processing (fallback only)
  • GolfCourseAPI — Golf course database
  • Supabase — Backend services

We do not sell your personal information to third parties. We do not serve advertisements in the App.

5. Data Retention

Account data is retained for as long as your account is active. Scorecard images are processed in real time and discarded immediately after OCR processing. Crash reports are retained for 90 days. If you delete your account through the App's Settings, all locally stored data is permanently erased.

6. Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access your data — all your data is visible within the App
  • Delete your account and all associated data via Settings > Delete Account
  • Opt out of crash reporting by contacting us

If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), you have additional rights under the GDPR, including the right to data portability and the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.

If you are a California resident, you have rights under the CCPA, including the right to know what personal information we collect and the right to request deletion.

7. Children's Privacy

The App is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under 13, we will delete that information promptly.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy within the App and updating the "Effective Date" above. Your continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
